★特别忌讳赠礼带有你公司标志的便宜礼物。因为这有义务做广告的嫌疑。
★过谦并非美德 因为美国人把过谦视为虚伪的代名词,如果一个自谦说英语讲得不好,接着又说出一口流畅英语,美国人会认为他是个口是心非,装腔作势的人。所以,同美国人交往,应该大胆说出自己的能力,有一是一不必过于谦虚客气,否则反而事与愿违。
★同陌生人打招呼 我们在路上,电梯内或走廊里,常常与迎面走来的人打照面,目光相遇,这时美国人习惯是目光致意。不可立刻把视线移开,或把脸扭向一边,佯装不见。只有对不顺眼或不屑一顾的人才这样做。美国人清晨漫步街道时,若碰到擦身而过的人,会习惯说一句“早上好”。当然,在行人众多的街道上,不必对所有擦身而过的人都以目光致意或打招呼。
★别忘了问候孩子 到美国人家中做客,他们的孩子一定出来见客,打个招呼。这时,千万不要只顾大人而冷落小孩子。那样势必使他们的父母不愉快。跟小孩子打招呼,可以握握手或亲亲他,如果小孩子亲了你的脸,你也一定要亲亲他的脸。
★莫在别人面前脱鞋 在美国,若是在别人面前脱鞋或者赤脚,会被视为不知礼节的野蛮人!男性若脱下鞋子,就会被当作丛林中的土人一样受到蔑视。鞋带松了,也应走到没人的地方系好。
